Executive Committee
Comprising all committee chairs and elected officers, this committee takes on special project topics and provides leadership on issues such as budget input, the District Needs Statement, and coordination of standing committees and task forces.
Battery Park City Committee
Addresses the unique relationship with the Battery Park City Authority, focusing on matters arising from its role as the landlord for thousands of residents in the area.
Environmental Protection Committee
Focuses on promoting long-term sustainability and environmental protection and implementing comprehensive coastal resiliency plans especially in light of challenges like climate change and extreme weather events.
Land Use, Zoning & Economic Development Committee
Responsible for forming recommendations on discretionary actions and applications related to land use, zoning, and economic development, ensuring that development aligns with community needs and supports both small businesses and large enterprises.

Landmarks & Preservation Committee
Reviews applications related to individual landmarks and buildings within historic districts, strategizing on preserving the district’s rich history.
Licensing & Permits Committee
Handles issues and applications related to the liquor licenses, outdoor dining licenses, and cannabis licenses, ensuring applicants are mindful of neighborhood needs while maintaining economic vibrancy.
Personnel Committee
Supports the board and chair by focusing on hiring needs of the Community Board staff and office and includes interviewing candidates for public membership and advising on membership attendance issues.
Quality of Life, Health, Housing & Human Services Committee
Supports service delivery by reviewing items ranging from public safety and sanitation to construction impact, chronic noise complaints, and services for people in need. The committee also oversees affordable housing discussions including policy.

Organizes street fairs that generate supplementary funds for CB1.
Transportation & Street Activity Committee
Addresses all aspects of the district’s transportation needs, including infrastructure, traffic patterns, and mobility uses, working closely with the Department of Transportation to enhance streets, sidewalks, and transit facilities.

Reviews issues and promotes greater utilization of the district’s waterfronts, parks, and reviewing and sharing services provided by the district’s cultural organizations.

Oversees educational facilities, services, and programs affecting young people up to age 21, working with relevant agencies and organizations to issue recommendations and host informational forums.
Task Forces
A task force is a temporary committee established to address a specific issue within a limited timeframe. Currently, CB1 does not have an active task force.
